Using new skills to develop career and help others

Having majored in administrative work in the past, Tsz Kwan noticed the booming development of virtual technology and information technology industries in recent years. After she learnt that the Go Digital Career course would teach website writing, she enrolled in it hoping to gain skills and help her career development.

During the program, she learned Javascript, CSS, HTML and other languages for writing websites, as well as UX, UI, Figma and using React for website design. During the course, she received attentive guidance from instructors and support from program staff.

She now works as an accounting clerk in a shipping company. At first glance, it was not much different from her previous job; but nowadays, many types of work also use programs to improve efficiency. For example, the accounting system she often uses has now required Javascript. Now she can use the knowledge she’s learned to help the company update the accounting system content. After her employer found out about her IT knowledge in this area, he felt confident in giving her more job opportunities that required IT knowledge.

She hopes to not only apply the knowledge to work, but also to continue cultivating her interest in designing websites. She already tried to participate in some innovation and technology entrepreneurship projects during the course to practice her knowledge. In future, she will continue to learn I.T. knowledge by herself, and hopes to build a website that can serve and help others.
